Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending one of the Design Museums Design Icons series at the Harrods loading bay. The designer in question was Ross Lovegrove, famous for his fluid, ergonomic products that almost exclusively derive their form from nature. The talk itself was at times arrogant, idealistic and more often that not, completely unrealistic. But - and this is a big but - when I was a kid I recorded a programme about Ross Lovegrove and his design work. Not only does he share my rather bald approach to a haircut but he was brought up ten minutes along the Welsh coast from me. A place that I found inspiring, rich in stimulus and culture, and a place I love going back to. And that's the important thing, Ross is inspiring, he's passionate and he means it, in short he is everything good about design. If you get the chance take a look at the video, better still, get a ticket for the next two lectures.
